Hundreds of engineers, workers and modern construction equipment are working at full capacity on the Me So Bridge construction site – a vital transport link connecting Hanoi and Hung Yen, forming part of Ring Road 4 of the Hanoi Capital Region.

The Me So Bridge and its approach roads have a total length of nearly 14 kilometers. The starting point is located at the interchange between National Highway 1A and Ring Road 4, while the endpoint connects the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway with Ring Road 4. The project has a total investment of nearly VND 4.9 trillion.

Spanning the Red River, Me So Bridge connects Hong Van Commune (Hanoi) with Van Giang District (Hung Yen). The bridge is designed with a total length of over 2 kilometers and a cross-section width of 24.5 meters, comprising four lanes for motor vehicles, with an additional lane on each side dedicated to motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles.

Beyond being a new river-crossing structure over the Red River, Me So Bridge is a strategic component of Ring Road 4. It is one of three major bridges along the route, alongside Hong Ha Bridge and Hoai Thuong Bridge.

These key infrastructure works play a critical role in enhancing inter-regional connectivity, shortening travel time between Hanoi and neighboring provinces such as Hung Yen and Bac Ninh, while also helping to ease traffic pressure on existing bridges.

A representative of the construction contractor stated that, in order to ensure project progress, all managers, engineers and workers are maintaining continuous construction throughout the Tet holiday period, with no days off. Construction is being carried out simultaneously at two main fronts on both the Hanoi and Hung Yen sides of the river.

According to the approved design, Me So Bridge will be supported by a total of 116 bored piles, each with a diameter of 2.2 meters. With an average construction rate of one pile per day, the piling works are expected to be completed within approximately four months, before transitioning to the construction of pile caps and bridge piers.

Once completed, Me So Bridge is expected to play a pivotal role in unlocking development potential along the Ring Road 4 corridor, supporting the growth of industrial parks, industrial clusters and satellite urban areas, and contributing to the broader economic restructuring toward industrialization and modernization in the Hanoi Capital Region.
